ATLANTA, Ga. - At the end of every season the outgoing senior class is honored by the coaches and administration. On Fri., Nov. 11 Clark Atlanta University will see five volleyball seniors play one last match from inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium. The five seniors hail from five different states with four spending four seasons playing for the Panthers.
Kiara Govan transferred to CAU after playing at Tennessee Temple University and has been the primary setter for the Panthers in each of her two seasons. In 2015 Govan saw the court in 28 matches and registered 533 assists to go with 15 service aces and 95 digs. In her final season the Houston, Texas native has 694 assists along with 152 digs and 21 aces. On Wed. night, Govan set an SIAC single-match high for 2016 with 57 assists on the night.
Tierra Ford has played four seasons for Clark Atlanta and as a junior tallied 101 kills and 20 blocks for single-season highs that she is approaching as a senior with 93 kills and 14 blocks. For her Panther career, the Brunswick, Ga. resident has seen the court in 82 matches while recording 264 kills, 46 blocks, and has a career hitting percentage of .142.
Tenicia Winston came to CAU from Portland, Ore. and has played four seasons for Clark Atlanta - including three seasons on the softball diamond. In 74 career matches, Winston has 9 kills and 490 assists - 388 coming during her sophomore season. She set a career high with 92 digs in 2014 along with 19 aces that season.
Dariyan Stallings has tallied over 1,000 career digs during her four years at CAU. Having played in 114 matches she enters the final home match with 350 digs this season and 1,116 digs in her career. She has also served up 156 career aces and 100 assists. Stallings, originally from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., has five of the top-6 dig totals in a match this season with entries of 30, 28, 21, 17, and 16 digs.
The final senior came to Clark Atlanta from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sierra Scoggins was named to the 2016 All-SIAC Preseason Team and has followed that up with setting a career-high for kills in a season with 297 entering the final match at home. Over four seasons and 122 matches, Scoggins has 1,067 career kills - breaking the 1,000 kill mark against North Greenville on Oct. 22. With a season hitting percentage of .303, she ranks second in the SIAC and has tallied a career mark of .262.
Clark Atlanta wraps up the home portion - and the regular season - hosting Benedict College at 6:30 PM on Fri., Nov. 11 before heading to Birmingham for the SIAC Championship tournament on Nov. 16-18 from the Birmingham CrossPlex.
