MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Clark Atlanta University showed determination and grit in a competitive doubleheader Friday at Bruce Hall/Johnson Gymnasium, falling in five sets to Kentucky State before dropping the nightcap to Central State (Ohio).
In the opener, the Lady Panthers pushed Kentucky State to the brink in a five-set thriller (25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 11-15). Jadyn Harris led the offense with 12 kills, while Kendall Cook added 16 kills and 19 digs. Setter Madison Spells tallied 14 assists and three blocks, and Morgan Williams contributed 12 kills and three aces. Despite the narrow loss, Clark Atlanta displayed improved execution and energy throughout the match.
Later in the evening, the Panthers faced Central State, falling 3-0 (17-25, 18-25, 21-25). Even with a limited roster, Clark Atlanta continued to compete with intensity and effort. Harris again paced the offense with seven points, while Spells and Williams each added key contributions at the net. The team's defense, anchored by Cook and Christen Maloney, remained active throughout the match.
Clark Atlanta (1–17, 1–8 SIAC) returns to action tomorrow, October 11 as they play against Lane College, carrying momentum from a day marked by heart and perseverance.
