Lady Panthers Track & Field Finishes Third at SIAC Championships, Three Athletes Earn All-Conference Selections

Lady Panthers earn 104.5 points overall

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Clark Atlanta women's track and field team took the short trip over to B.T. Harvey Stadium to compete in the 2024 Cricket SIAC Track and Field Championships hosted by Morehouse College this past weekend. The Lady Panthers finished the event in third place overall with 104.5 points with several podium finishes on the final day. 

The final day was highlighted by 10 top-three finishes from six different runners. Freshman Lailah Sellers finished third in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:27.88 followed by another third place finish in the 1500-meter run (5:10.5).

Shynique McGee leaped her way to a second-place finish in the triple jump, sporting an 11.71-meter jump. McGee also competed in the women's heptathlon in which she finished in third place overall to add six points to the Lady Panther score. 

Senior Naomi Andrews found success in the women's high jump where she finished in second place with a 1.60-meter mark followed by a second-place finish in the pole vault with a 2.30-meter mark.

In the long-distance events, Aliyah Jackson garnered a second-place finish in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase (13:06.67). Jackson raced to a bronze medal in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 21:17.33 for her second podium finish of the day. 

Anniyah Williams earned a silver medal in the women's 200-meter, finishing with a time of 24.55 to add 8 points for Clark Atlanta. Karon Warren placed third in the women's 400-meter dash in 57.22. 

ALL CONFERENCE

Shynique McGee earned all-conference selections in three different events, including first team in the heptathlon and second team in the javelin and the triple jump. 


Aliyah Jackson was selected for second-team all-conference in the women's 10,000-meter while Naomi Andrews earned a second-team all-conference selection in the pole vault.
