Men's Basketball Announces 2023-24 Schedule

ATLANTA, Ga. – After a productive offseason, the Clark Atlanta men's basketball team has announced the 2023-24 regular season schedule on Monday, October 2.

The Panthers will host 15 home contests and hit the road for the remaining 13 games.

"As a first time head coach, last year was a learning experience for myself." said head coach Alfred Jordan, "This summer I spent a lot of time watching film and learning how I could get better as a coach with my decision making and also with in-game adjustments. One of the biggest improvements everyone will see is the talent upgrade that was made to the roster."

The 2023-24 season will open on Nov. 10 inside Epps Gymnasium as Clark Atlanta hosts the GSC/SIAC Challenge. The Panthers will take on the University of West Florida at 8 p.m. followed by a matchup against Valdosta State on Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.

The Panthers will hit the road for the first time to take on the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.

Clark Atlanta will then return to the friendly confines of Epps Gymnasium for a pair of non-conference matchups against Fisk University (Nov. 20) and Voorhees University (Nov. 22).

To close out the month of November, the Panthers head south to take on Peach Belt Conference opponent Clayton State University on Nov. 27 in Morrow, Georgia at 7 p.m.

The month of December marks the beginning of conference play for the Panthers as they head to Mobile, Alabama to face off against the Spring Hill Badgers on Dec. 2 at 4 p.m.

Just two days later, Clark Atlanta remains in Alabama to take on the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. The Panthers will get almost a week off before returning home for a non-conference clash against Wilberforce University on Dec. 9 followed by a matchup with SIAC foe Lane College (Dec. 16). To close out the 2023 half of the schedule, Clark Atlanta hosts LeMoyne-Owen College on Dec. 18.

"All offseason I have been expressing to my team the sense of urgency in getting our respect. Last year our record wasn't the greatest, and a lot of people may not view us as a threat to winning the national championship. I've been telling my team every day counts, and every day we have to build brick by brick to earn our respect and make our mark nationally." said head coach Alfred Jordan

The New Year opens up with a two-game road trip for the Panthers as they head to Wilberforce, Ohio to take on the Central State Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Following that matchup, Clark Atlanta heads to the Bluegrass State to wrangle the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University (Jan. 6).

Midway through January, CAU returns home to face Benedict College on Jan. 13 with Allen University coming to Epps Gymnasium the following Monday (Jan. 15).

The Panthers will then head to the coast to take on Edward Waters in Jacksonville, Florida on Jan. 20. Clark Atlanta will face Savannah State in Savannah on Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. inside Tiger Arena.

Clark Atlanta returns to Epps Gymnasium on Saturday, January 27, for the always highly anticipated "Battle of the AUC" against cross-campus rival Morehouse College at 4 p.m.

The Panthers host Albany State on Jan. 29 followed by Fort Valley State on Jan. 31 to close out the month of January.

The final month of the regular season kicks off on the road as the Panthers head to Fort Valley, Ga. on Feb. 3 to take on the Wildcats once again followed by another rematch against Albany State on Feb. 5 in Albany.

The Panthers return home for the final two home games of the season as they host Savannah State (Feb. 10) and Edward Waters (Feb. 12).

Clark Atlanta will finish the regular season on a four-game road trip which includes a visit to defending SIAC Champions Miles College on Feb. 14 in Fairfield, Ala. CAU then returns to the Peach State for part two of the 'Battle of the AUC" at Morehouse College on Saturday, February 17, at 1 p.m.

The final two games of the regular season take place in the Palmetto State as Clark Atlanta heads to Allen University on Feb. 24 followed by a visit to Benedict College (Feb. 26) to close out the season.

The 2023-24 SIAC Basketball Championship Tournament will be held Mar. 2-9 at a location to be determined at a later date.

"One of the main things that I am looking for with this new roster is a higher basketball IQ, and also learning how to close out close games," said Coach Jordan.
