Charles Stafford was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday after his big game against Atlanta University Center rival Morehouse Saturday.
In his final game for Clark Atlanta, Stafford, a senior, completed 27 of 50 passes for 325 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in the Panthers heartbreaking 40-39 loss to the Maroon Tigers. Stafford had touchdown passes of seven, five, and seven yards in the first half and then two more in the second half of 18 yards and two yards. Three of his TD passes went to fellow senior
Johnathan Sanders. Stafford completed passes to nine different receivers on the day.
It was his fourth 300-yards passing day of the season and the fifth of his career.
Stafford finishes the season leading the SIAC in passing yards per game (254.6 yards), total passing yards (2,546 yards) and touchdown passes (23). He also finishes atop the conference standings in total offense with 251.3 yards per game.
