PANTHER GAMEDAY: Clark Atlanta Visits Defending SIAC Champs Miles

The Clark Atlanta University Panthers will seek their first win of the season today when they visit Miles College at 4 p.m. (Central Time) in Fairfield, Ala., just southwest of downtown Birmingham.

The game will be streamed live on FloSports at  https://www.flofootball.com/signup?utm_campaign=2019siacfootball&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=clarkatlantasports.com&utm_content=website&utm_term=clarkatlanta&rtid=&coverage_id=.

The Panthers (0-4, 0-2 SIAC) take on a Miles (3-1 1-0 SIAC) team that last season defeated  CAU 28-27 in the final minute, jump-starting their three-game winning streak that culminated in the Golden Bears claiming the 2018 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. Miles has won the last five games between the two schools, with CAU last defeating the Golden Bears in 2010, 35-9 at Miles.

This season, CAU has been hit with a rash of injuries to an already young squad, particularly on the offensive line.  Still, the Panthers have the SIAC's third-best passing offense, with quarterbacks Charles Stafford and P.J. Sanford combing for 241.2 yards per game.

Miles sports the SIACs top offense in terms of scoring (39 points per game) and total offense (439.5 yards per game).  Quarterback Daniel Smith threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns in their 52-28 victory over Lane last week.

Next Saturday, the Panthers are back on the road, heading to Kentucky State for their 1 p.m. game, before returning home on Oct. 19 for the big 2 p.m. Homecoming 2019 game against Savannah State.

PANTHER NOTES: CAU will be wearing all-white today, with red socks… Miles has scored at least 38 points in each of their three wins this season.  In their one loss, they fell 49-21 to Missouri S&T two weeks ago… The Panthers have scored at least one touchdown in six straight games, a streak that began last season in their 28-27 loss to Miles last season.
