PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Set to Take on No. 4W Seeded Central State in SIAC Quarterfinal

Lady Panthers enter the SIAC Tournament with No. 1 overall seed

ATLANTA – Clark Atlanta women's basketball will embark on the 2025 SIAC Basketball Tournament starting Wednesday, March 5 as they take on Central State at 2 p.m. inside Forbes Arena. The Lady Panthers will enter the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed while Central State will enter as the No. 4 seed in the West Division.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
Wednesday's matchup will be the 13th meeting all-time between Clark Atlanta and Central with the last faceoff taking place December 14, 2024.
 
Clark Atlanta leads the series 7-5 and boasts a 22-6 overall record (15-4 SIAC) followed by Central State at 12-14 overall (9-10 SIAC).
 
CLARK ATLANTA
 
This season, Clark Atlanta surpassed their best win total since the 2017-18 season when they went 20-9 and won the SIAC Championship.
 
The Lady Panthers head into Wednesday's game with three players averaging double digits. Three-time Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Player of the Week sophomore forward Atreonia Garner (Spanaway, Wash.) leads the squad in scoring (15.6 ppg) which ranks second in the conference while also leading Clark in rebounding (6.7 rpg).
 
Graduate Corriana Evans (Griffin, Ga.) looks to continue her success on the offensive end as she averages 12.4 ppg with 5.6 rebounds per contest to add. Fellow graduate student Trinity Jones (Americus, Ga.) ranks second on the team in scoring (12.9 ppg) while leading the team in three-point percentage shooting 31% from beyond-the-arc. 
 
CENTRAL STATE
 
Central State is coming off a close win at home against Benedict (Mar. 5) after escaping with a 61-56 win to advance to the quarterfinal. Central State has zero players averaging double figures
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Feb. 26, the Lady Panthers had an impressive showing against Allen University but fell short on the road 78-84 inside John Hurst Adams Gymnasium to close out the regular season.
 
Clark Atlanta placed three players in double figures led by Trinity Jones with 21 points followed by Corriana Evans with 20 points and Atreonia Garner with 13 on the evening.
