Lady Panthers Open SIAC Play with Gritty Win Over Tuskegee

Clark Atlanta improves to 4-2 overall

Box Score TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Clark Atlanta women's basketball team opened SIAC play with a gritty 58-55 road win over Tuskegee University on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (4-2, 1-0 SIAC) leaned on the offensive brilliance of Atreonia Garner, who dominated with a double-double performance of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Garner shot an efficient 11-of-16 from the field and was perfect from the free-throw line, making 5-of-5 attempts. Her tenacity on both ends of the floor set the tone for Clark Atlanta, who secured a narrow victory over their conference foe.

Despite a strong defensive effort from Tuskegee (3-3, 0-1 SIAC), which included 10 steals and four blocks, Clark Atlanta's ability to control the paint proved decisive. The Panthers outscored the Golden Tigers 32-22 in the paint and secured 15 points off fast breaks.

The game featured three ties and four lead changes as the teams traded blows throughout the contest. Clark Atlanta opened with a strong 17-13 lead in the first quarter, but Tuskegee rallied in the second to cut the deficit to 27-26 at halftime. The Panthers maintained their composure in a closely contested second half, outscoring Tuskegee 19-14 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Denise Stine added eight points and two steals for the Panthers, while Faith Bland contributed seven points and six rebounds, providing key support to Garner's dominant outing. The Panthers' bench chipped in with 12 points, ensuring a balanced attack.

For Tuskegee, Brittney Bolin led the charge with 12 points, including two three-pointers, while Hilani Cantone added 11 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Jasmine Manuel contributed eight points and eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome Clark Atlanta's late-game execution.

The Panthers were efficient from the free-throw line, converting 20 of their 25 attempts, a stark contrast to Tuskegee's 8-of-15 performance. Clark Atlanta's defensive intensity also shone, forcing 22 turnovers and recording 11 steals to disrupt Tuskegee's offensive rhythm.
