Jackson Finishes in Top-10, Both CAU Teams Compete at Gary Wilson Invite

Both Teams Finish Second to Last at Gary Wilson Invite

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta men's and women's cross country programs traveled to Carrollton, Georgia to compete in the Coach Gary Wilson XC Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia. Junior runner Aliyah Jackson (Fairfax, Va.) finished highest out of any Panther with her 10th place finish in the women's 5K race.

The Lady Panthers finished in third place out of the four teams competing while the men's team finished in fourth place out of five teams.

WOMEN'S 5K RACE

Aliyah Jackson cracked the top-10 for the first time this season with a time of 23:06.5 to lead the Lady Panthers. Jayla Hartley-Scott (New York, N.Y.) finished just seven places behind Jackson in 17th place (26:45.5), followed by Naomi Andrews (Brandon, Fla.) in 19th with a time of 27:45.1.

Miracle Smith (Newtown Center, Mass.) rounded out the race with a time of 29:45.3 in 21st place. Karon Warren (Carson, Calif.) and Jameah Alston (Smyrna, Ga.) finished in 23rd and 24th place with times of 31:27.0 and 31:27.7.

MEN'S 8K RACE

Elijah Hargrove (Bloomfield, Conn.) logged the highest finish for the Panthers as he ended up in 12th place (29:41.9). Benjamin Raspberry (Douglasville, Ga.) was the second Panther to cross the finish line as he finished in 26th place (35:12.5), followed by Lamin Secka (Douglasville, Ga.) in 28th (35:47.0). Chavez Kennedy (36th) and Nicholas Barnett (40th) were the last two Panthers across the finish line.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Clark Atlanta cross country returns to action next Saturday, September 30, for the Clayton State Asics Cross Country Invite in Fairburn, Georgia.
