Women's Track Set to Compete in 2023 SIAC Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. | The Clark Atlanta women's track and field team is set to compete in the 2023 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track and tournament from April 27-29 at Morehouse College.

The Lady Panthers will make the short trip down Joseph E. Lowery Blvd to compete against 13 other SIAC opponents.

"It's all about who's going to show up at the right time. We have a lot of young women who have stepped up their game by competing in multiple events, so we feel we are just as good as anybody else in the conference right now." said head track coach Pamela Page ahead of the start of Thursday's meet.

Clark Atlanta's freshmen have shown great strides this season while promising a bright future for the Lady Panthers. Anniyah Williams finished with a career and team-best in the 100-meter at the UWG Legends Invite with a time of 12.40 which is good for seventh-best in the conference. At the same meet, Williams also set a career-best in the 200-meter (25.35).

Karon Warren is another freshmen standout for the Lady Panthers. The Carson, California native set a collegiate best in the 200-meter (26.14) and 400-meter (57.87) at the UWG Legends Invite while also finishing first in the 4x400 relay.

When asked about the major contributions from the freshmen this year, head coach Pamela Page said, "They are just going above and beyond as freshmen to help this team re-establish themselves."

To round out the pack, dual athlete Shynique McGee who competes in volleyball and track for Clark Atlanta has also shown great success in her 2023 campaign. McGee charted a collegiate best in four field events at the Running Eagles Open on April 14.

The 2023 SIAC Conference Championships will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 27 at Edwin C. Moses Track. Live streaming and live results will be available in the links below.
