Today the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers softball team hosts Voorhees College in the final home games of the 2022 season in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Lady Panther Field. 

The Lady Panthers (8-28, 2-13 SIAC) today will be looking to game momentum in their push to try to earn one of eight spots in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Championships in Albany, Ga., beginning May 5.  CAU plays Fort Valley State in three games this weekend in Fort Valley, Ga.  Sweeping Fort Valley would put them in the Championships. 

"It's a very important week for us," said Head Coack Lawanda Pearson.  "We really need to gain some momentum as we head into this big weekend series, so that makes today's games just as important." 

Today they take on a Voorhees team that has not beaten CAU in the three games the two teams have played since 2011.  CAU has averaged a nearly 15 runs a game against Voorhees and defeated them 13-4 on April 8th in Denmark., S.C.   The Lady Panthers have one four of their last five games, including winning four in a row by sweeping Allen University on the road and beating Voorhies. 

It's also Senior Day at Lady Panther Field.  Graduate student and preseason All-SIAC player Tatianna Kelly will play her final home game for Clark Atlanta while senior manager Alivia Duncan will also be honored.
