Lady Panthers Battle Through Tight Series, Falls in Final Conference Match-Up

CAU Pushes ASU to the Wire in Hard-Fought Weekend

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers concluded their conference slate with a highly competitive, hard-fought three-game series against Albany State. The weekend showcased the team's resilience, highlighted by thrilling late-inning rallies, standout offensive performances, and several momentum-shifting defensive stands. Despite keeping the pressure on until the final out of every match-up, the series ultimately tilted in Albany State's favor.

GAME ONE – Albany State 3, Clark Atlanta 2 (9 innings)
Clark Atlanta held Albany State scoreless through the first seven innings with steady defensive play from Makayla Marquez, Gabriella Aleman, and Sydney Strickland. CAU tied the game 1–1 in the eighth when Maliyah Ward scored on a sacrifice fly. Daria Bush doubled for an RBI in the top of the ninth, but the Panthers were unable to bring their last runner home. Closing the extended portion of the contest, 2-3.

GAME TWO – Albany State 7, Clark Atlanta 5
Albany State built a 6–0 lead till the fourth frame, when CAU answered with Sydney Strickland's triple to score Gabriella Aleman, and Lena Sellam followed with an RBI single to make it 6–2. In the fifth, Marquez scored again on an Aleman single, adding a run for Clark. The Lady Panthers mounted a final push in the seventh when Aleman drove in two more runs with Marquez and Andreya Hunter aboard, but the comeback ended with the tying run at the plate, 5-7.

GAME THREE – Albany State 6, Clark Atlanta 4
The second match of Saturday started with a surge from Albany State's offense, 2–0 in the first.  Alexis Daphney stayed composed on the mound, backed by the defensive efforts of Hunter, Marquez, and Madison Terry. The Lady Panthers cut the deficit to 6–2 in the sixth when Strickland drove in Marquez, then stole home on a wild pitch. At the bottom of the seventh, CAU made a final offensive drive, but did not recover, and fell 6-4.
