The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers are back on the court after an unexpected break the past week when they visit Benedict College at 5:30 p.m. in Columbia, S.C. today.

The Lady Panthers (5-13, 5-5 SIAC) have seen their past two road games – at Miles and at Allen - postponed due to Covid-19 protocols.  The last time they were on the court, CAU defeated Allen 59-55 on Monday, Jan. 31 in L.S Epps Gymnasium.

Two days before that, the Lady Panthers nearly pulled off a big win over Benedict (16-6, 10-2 SIAC), coming just short, 65-62 in Epps Gymnasium.

CAU continues to be led by senior guard Reagan Jackson who is averaging just under 19 points per game and had 26 points against Benedict in their previous game.  Sophomore guard/forward Corriana Evans is averaging 13.3 points per game. She had her fifth double-double last week against Allen when Evans scored 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.

Benedict has won five games in a row, six of their last seven with their loss coming against Albany State on Jan. 17. 

The Tigers continue to be led by Ay'Anna Bey who is scoring 15 points and eight rebounds per game so far this season.  Keondra Archie is scoring 12.7 points per game, Wykira Kelly-Johnson is at 11.4 points per game, and Ayanna Armstead is scoring ten points per game.

Every game from now until the end of the month when the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament begins is important for the Lady Panthers.  CAU is just behind
Albany State with a 5-5 record in conference play while ASU is 7-5. Benedict is in second place, a half-game behind first-place Savannah State.
