The Lady Panthers (6-18, 5-10 SIAC) come into the game after a tough season that has seen a team of 16 players get whittled down to eight players, primarily because of injury. The Lady Panthers will be without one of their two top players, sophomore guard/forward
Corriana Evans who was injured in the CAU's loss to Fort Valley State last week.
Evans, who was named the SIAC's Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Year and was chosen second team All-Conference, averaged 14.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Lady Panthers in her first season at CAU.
But one of the SIAC's top scorers will be on the floor for CAU. Senior
Reagan Jackson, fresh off of being named to the All-SIAC first team, has poured in 18.7 points per game for the Lady Panthers. Jackson just passed the 1,000-point career scoring mark at CAU in only three seasons.
Fellow senior
Maegan Barkley will look to replicate her success in the first meeting between the two teams on November 29 when she led CAU with 15 points in the Lady Panthers 68-61 victory. Jackson had 14 points that night while Evans had 11 and
Alexis Mann had 11.
Denise Stine is the third-leading scorer for the Lady Panthers at 8.7 points per game and grabbing 5.2 rebounds per game. She pretty much hit those averages in the first meeting with KSU with nine points and six rebounds that night.
KSU counters with leading scorer Laurie Thomas who averages 11.3 points and 7.3 boards per game. Hannah Henderson is their other double figure scorer at 10.7 points per game.
The Thorobreds are 3-3 in their last six games, falling in their last game on Feb. 19 to LeMoyne-Owen 70-67. CAU has won three of the last four contests with Kentucky State, last losing to them in December 2018.
The winner of Monday's game moves on to play No. 1 seed from the West Division, Tuskegee on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m.
