The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers Tennis team will look to turn around a slow start to the 2022 season when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville at CAU Tennis Courts today at 1 p.m.
Lady Panthers have lost their first three matches this season to Georgia College, Georgia State and Shorter University. But injuries have played a big part so far this season for a promising and talented CAU roster. The Lady Panthers were down to five players against Shorter this past Saturday. But doubles team
Madison Moffatt and Shani Ideltte won their match Saturday while
Nicola Ramdyhan and
Kristen Blount played their opponent tough before coming up short in their match. Moffatt also won in singles while Idlette and Ramdyhan battle to the end in very close matches.
Shereese Henry was tough late, as was Blount.
Wednesday they take on a Texas A&M Kingsville squad that won two matches Saturday over Texas A&M-Texarkana (4-0) and Weatherford (5-2) after losing their season-opening match to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 7-0 four days earlier. The Javelinas are led in singles play by last season's Lone Star Conference leader in wins, Milou ter Morsche. ter Morsche teams with Noemi Sante to lead their doubles squads.
After Wednesday's match, the Lady Panthers will be off until next Thursday when they host the important Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Round-Up to begin conference play. The Round-Up will be played at the South Fulton Tennis Center in College Park, Ga., Thursday through Saturday.
