Box Score 2 The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers softball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader to Fort Valley State University Friday at Bill Evans Field Friday.
In the first game, the Lady Panthers (1-2) were behind FVSU (1-2) 3-0 after the first inning, but in the third,
Tatianna Kelly singled and scored, while
Johannas Bentley walked and scored,
Judasia Blalock reached on an error and scored, and
Sierra Lopez was hit by a pitch and eventually scored too, putting CAU up 4-3.
But FVSU erupted for nine runs in the fifth inning to put the game away, taking a 15-7 victory. Kelly finished with two hits and a run scored, while Bentley walked and doubled, drove in a run and scored once.
Paityn White walked and singled with an RBI while Lopez reached twice after being hit by pitches, singled and scored.
FVSU was led by Kayla Phillips who doubled and singled twice and had three RBIs. Janecia Barber had three singles and drove in three runs.
In the second game, the Wildcats (2-2) again jumped out to an early lead, getting five runs in the first three innings to get an 8-3 victory in the nightcap. FVSU's Johara Buggs walked and singled, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Keteria Lonay had a double and two singles and drove in a run. Bentley had a triple, a double and scored a run for Clark Atlanta (1-3).
The two teams are back on the field on Saturday for a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m. and Lady Panther Field.
