After splitting a doubleheader to open the season against Talladega College Wednesday, the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers softball team is back on the field this weekend, opening a four-game series with Fort Valley State University today at 2 p.m. at Lady Panther Field.

The Lady Panthers (1-1) took a 4-3, comeback win over Talladega Wednesday, but fell 15-12 in a slugfest in which they erased an eight-run deficit to pull within two, only to fall just short in the end.

Graduate student Tatianna Kelly and freshman Johannas Bentley led the way for the Lady Panthers on Opening Day with Kelly banging out a single, a tripe, two doubles and scoring three times, while Bentley had three singles, a double, four RBIs and scored twice.  Paityn White walked three times and scored three times.

FVSU (0-2) has lost their only two games this season, both to Wesleyan College in a doubleheader on Feb. 28.  They fell 6-1 in the first game and 12-3 in the second game.
The Lady Panthers will play FVSU again at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. today and again tomorrow at the same times.
