The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers visit Savannah State tonight at 5:30 p.m. as they head towards the end of the regular season.

The Lady Panthers (7-17, 5-10 SIAC) are looking to move up a spot in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division race. Currently, they are in fifth place, but only a game separates them from Paine (6-9 SIAC) in fourth place. Savannah State (13-7, 8-9 SIAC), in the third spot, is battling with Fort Valley State for the second-place position behind Benedict.
The positioning is important as the teams head into the SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament, beginning Monday, March 2 in Rock Hill, S.C.
Thursday, the Lady Panthers look to avenge a close 77-74 loss to the Tigers on Jan. 20 in L.S. Epps Gymnasium. In that game, the game was tied a 67-67 with 2:58 remaining, but Savannah State hit three consecutive baskets to take a six-point lead. Two
Naomi Holloway baskets and another by
Lakashia Hill weren't enough as the Lady Panthers came up just short.
After that game, Savannah State won three of their next four games, but have lost two of their last three. Le'Andrea Gillis, the SIAC's leading scorer at 19.6 points per game, leads the conference's highest scoring offense at 75 points per game.
The Lady Panthers have been paced by
Reyana Miller, who has averaged 11.8 points per game and
Autum Morings, the conference's fifth-leading rebounder at just under nine boards per game.
Clark Atlanta closes the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 25 when they visit Fort Valley State.
