Lady Panthers Hit the Road to Take on Central State Saturday

The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers are back on the court today after the long holiday break, taking on Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio today at 1 p.m.  The game can be seen live, via webstream, at https://maraudersports.com/watch/

The Lady Panthers (3-10, 2-3 SIAC) are coming off of two close losses, a four-point defeat at the hands of Miles on Dec. 19 and a five-point loss to LeMoyne-Owen on Dec. 21.  They sport the double-digit scoring, guard duo of Reagan Jackson and Reyana Miller.

Jackson, a sophomore, leads the team with 13.9 points per game and has scored in double figures in ten of the Lady Panthers 13 games this season including a season-high 32 points against Lane on Dec. 2.  Miller, a senior, has been scoring nearly 12 points per game while ranking sixth in the SIAC in both steals and assists so far this season.

It will be the second game for CAU with the addition of forward Courtney Hall, a 6'2" junior forward who had eight rebounds in her season debut against LeMoyne-Owen.

They face a Central State (4-9, 2-3 SIAC) that has won two in a row after having lost their previous seven games.   They defeated Paine 81-58 on Dec. 16 and Albany State 66-56 on Dec. 21.

Brooke Spaulding leads four Marauders who score in double figures this season.  Spaulding averages 14.8 points per game while Takyra Gilbert has scored 12.2 points per game.  Sandra Guilford and Bri'elle Johnson both have scored ten points per game this season.

Two teams have split their last four meetings, the latest a 86-79 CSU victory over the Lady Panthers in the SIAC Tournament last season.  The Lady Panthers fell to the Marauders 88-57 during the regular season last year.

After today's game, Clark Atlanta heads to Frankfort, Ky., Monday when they take on Kentucky State at 5:30 p.m.  They return to L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 11 when they host Fort Valley State at 2 p.m.
