The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers, the winners of two of their last three games, will host Savannah State today at 3 p.m. in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
The Lady Panthers (5-11, 4-4 SIAC) are in a three-way tie for second place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division with Fort Valley State and Paine, while Savannah State (8-4, 3-4 SIAC) are just a half game behind them.
Clark Atlanta lost a tough 76-68 overtime battle against Fort Valley State on Jan. 11, but had won two straight before then as they defeated Central State and Kentucky State on the road.
The Lady Panthers continue to be led by guards
Reagan Jackson and
Reyana Miller. Jackson is 12
th in the SIAC with 13.4 points per game while Miller is 18
th with 11.9 per game.
Autum Morings is in the top five in rebounding while averaging 9.4 points per game for CAU.
Savannah State, the conference's highest scoring team at 77.6 points per game, is led by Le'Andrea Gillis, the SIAC's leading scorer with 21.1 points per game, including 27 points in the Tigers' 78-65 win over Fort Valley State Saturday. SSU also has the SIAC's top rebounder in Alexus Bryant, who averages nearly 11 rebounds per game. The Tigers are winners of their last two games.
