Lady Panthers Look For Third Straight Win When They Host Fort Valley State Saturday

The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers will look for their third consecutive win when they take on Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division foe Fort Valley State Saturday at 2 p.m. in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.   Admission is free.

It's a pivotal game as the Lady Panthers (5-10, 4-3 SIAC) are tied for second place in the SIAC East with Paine while Fort Valley State (6-8, 3-3 SIAC) is in third.

Clark Atlanta is coming off a two-game road trip where they defeated Central State and Kentucky State.  Leading scorer Reagan Jackson didn't play in either game but will be back on the court Saturday against FVSU.

Second-leading scorer Reyana Miller has continued her strong play, averaging 12 points per game, while Naomi Holloway, out a several games with a knee injury, has been back on the floor. Holloway had 13 points against both Kentucky State and Central State.

Fort Valley State broke a four-game losing streak last weekend when they defeated Kentucky State 55-52.  Before that losing streak, the Wildcats had won three of the previous four games.

Nola Carter and Torri Myers lead the Wildcats in scoring this season, with Carter averaging 12.6 points per game and Myers getting ten points per game.  Carter also leads the team in rebounds with just over four per game, while Myers is third with 3.1 boards per game.  Taziha Fanning is pulling down 3.4 rebounds per game.

Last season, Fort Valley State snapped a five-game losing streak to the Lady Panthers.  But they haven't beaten Clark Atlanta at home since January 2017.

After Saturday's game, the Lady Panthers are off until Monday, Jan. 20 – the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday – when they host Savannah State in L.S. Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
