Box Score The Clark Atlanta University softball team split a doubleheader with Fort Valley State University Saturday, winning the first game 9-0, but dropping the nightcap 12-2 at Lady Panther Field.
Clark Atlanta (9-10, 5-3 SIAC) and Fort Valley State (6-14, 3-5 SIAC) wrap up their three-game series today with a single game at 1 p.m. at Lady Panther Field.
Saturday, the Lady Panthers offense came alive early in the first inning as CAU had three runs on two hits. The Lady Panthers followed up with five more runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach.
In Game 2, Fort Valley State erased a 1-0 deficit and grabbed a 5-1 lead early. The Lady Wildcats added two runs in the third and three in the fourth as they went on to the win.
But after going into Saturday tied for second in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division, the Lady Panthers grabbed sole possession of second place after Benedict dropped two games to Albany State Saturday. Â Â CAU is 5-3 in conference play while Albany State is 8-2.Â
