The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers track and field team grabbed their second consecutive top ten team finish this weekend after finishing eighth in the Emory Classic at Emory University.
CAU was competing at Emory University for the second straight week after finishing fifth in the Emory Invitational two weeks ago.
This past weekend, the Lady Panthers were led by big performances from
Shahara Mitchell who won the javelin throw (38.23 meters) and the shot put (13.41 meters) and finished fifth in the discus throw (39.26 meters), and 12
th in the hammer throw.
Krystal Bobo, with a throw of 40.19 meters, was sixth in the hammer throw. She also finished 27
th in the shot put.
Jazmine Bowser, last week's Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Performer of the Week, had another strong meet, finishing seventh in the triple jump, seventh in the javelin throw, eighth in the long jump, and eighth in the high jump. Kelly Reese was 23
rd in the high jump.
Ashley Younger was tenth in the 200-meter dash.
Tamera Julkes was sixth in the 10,000-meter run and 16
th in the 3000-meter steeplechase, with
Ariane Stubbs finishing just behind her in 19
th, and Adoris Gibbs 21
st.
The CAU 4x400-meter relay team of Younger,
KaTara Burks,
Kierra King and
Lanique Ellis finished 14th.
Next up for the Lady Panthers is this weekend's Berry College Field Day Invitational in Mount Berry, Ga., with the SIAC Championships just a couple of weeks away, April 18-21.
