Clark Atlanta University Athletics Remembers the Life and Legacy of Raymond “Tweet” Williams

June 16, 1926 – August 11, 2025
Clark Atlanta University Athletics joins the Panther community in mourning the passing of Raymond "Tweet" Williams, a true pioneer, mentor, and champion for generations of student-athletes.

A proud graduate of Clark College, Class of 1959, and Atlanta University, Class of 1975, Tweet's impact was felt far beyond the classroom and playing field. As an All-American and All-SIAC Hall of Famer, his athletic achievements cemented his place in history. He was a trailblazer in the Georgia Interscholastic Association, opening doors for countless athletes during a time of change.

Tweet's leadership extended into education as a former Atlanta Public Schools football coach and principal of D.M. Therrell High School, where he inspired young people to excel in academics, athletics, and life. His visionary spirit led him to become Clark Atlanta University's first Athletic Director (1988–1991), where he laid the foundation for the program's growth and success.

In recognition of his extraordinary life and service, Clark Atlanta University Athletics will dedicate the entire 2025–2026 athletic season in his honor, ensuring that his legacy of excellence, leadership, and love for student-athletes continues to inspire future generations.

Rest well, Coach. Your impact will forever live on in the hearts of Panthers everywhere.
