Three Clark Atlanta University football players have been named to the 2017 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-South Region 2 team.
Quarterback
Johnathon McCrary, tight end
Rodney Morris, and wide receiver/kick returner
Deandre Jackson were each third-team picks for the prestigious squad.
All three were instrumental in the Clark Atlanta leading the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in total offense this past season. McCrary, a graduate student who was the 2017 SIAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, led the SIAC in passing and total offense this past season. Seniors Morris (28 receptions, 498 yards and six touchdowns) and Jackson (44 receptions, 634 yards, five touchdowns) where two of his leading receivers, both finishing among the SIAC's top ten receivers in receiving yards per game. Jackson finished third in the conference in receptions and was second in kick returns with 27 for 578 yards. He also was the SIAC's third-best in all-purpose yardage.
The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away in 2010. Hansen started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.
