Box Score 2 Atlanta, Ga. --- After dropping the first meeting this season, the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers softball team hit the field Monday afternoon looking for a little revenge against Edward Waters College, but were unable to find it as they lost 23-3 and 16-8.
Game one saw a relatively close affair after the firs inning, with the visiting Tigers leading CAU 3-1. The visitors would soon blow the game open however, reeling off 20 unanswered runs, including 12 in the top of the fifth, as they would cruise to the eventual victory. Zhandria Usher provided all of the offense for the Lady Panthers with a RBI on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, and a two-run homerun over the left field wall in the bottom of the fifth.
The second contest of the day saw a momentum shift in favor of the Lady Panthers early on, as they led 6-0 after two innings. The offense came by way of two seperate RBI singles for Veraae Woods, a RBI single for Tenecia Winston, and Usher's second home run of the day, this time of the three-run variety. However, EW would then pull off innings of four, six, and another six runs over the final three innings, to clinch the victory as the rain started to fall.
Clark Atlanta will hit the field again this week, as they travel to Jasper, Alabama, for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Crossover Tournament. Their first game will take place on Thursday, March 12th, at 2 pm, as they take on Miles College. In all, they will take the field seven times over the three-day event.
