Lady Panthers Endure Tough Weekend at SIAC Crossover

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Jasper, Ala. --- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) held it's annual Crossover tournament in Jasper, Alabama, this past weekend, which also afforded the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers the perfect opportunity to right their ship. Despite starting out with a victory in their first game, CAU was unable to capture anymore success as they dropped the final four.  The two games that were originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14th, against Kentucky State and Miles College were canceled and will not be made up.

Sophomore Jessica Vason earned All-Tournament team honors for her performance for the Lady Panthers.

Game 1 - CAU (12) vs. LeMoyne-Owen (3)

Clark Atlanta started their weekend out with a huge victory over the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians, despite L-O jumping out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a first inning home run. However, all the offense the rest of the way would go the way of the Lady Panthers, thanks in part to two three-RBI performances from Zhandria Usher and Veranae Woods. KaShaira Givens earned her first victory of the season for CAU.

Game 2 - CAU (5) vs, Tuskegee (13)

Despite the final score, Clark Atlanta was in this game until the end, leading TU in both the third and fourth innings, before Tuskegee would turn the power on in the final two innings to secure the victory. This time it was another one of the Woods triplets providing the offense for CAU, as Sharnitra Woords drove in three runs in the contest, while sister V. Woods took the loss on the mound. Tuskegee scored 9 runs over the final two innings in the come from behind victory.

Game 3 - CAU (2) vs. Lane (10)

The Lady Panthers hoped that a new day would give them more success, but that wouldn't be in the case in the first game of the day. Lane jumped out to a 4-0 lead after just one inning, and never looked back as they would score 10 straight runs in the first two innings before CAU was able to get on the board in the bottom of the second. The game would stay scoreless the remainder of the way

Game 4 - CAU (2) vs. Stillman (7)

This time around CAU would get on the board first, as Tenicia Winston scored in the first inning thanks to a timely error by Stillman. Unfortunately for the Lady Panthers, Stillman would go on to score seven of the games final eight runs, in route to the victory. V. Woods had three hits and an RBI for Clark Atlanta in the loss.

Game 5 - CAU (0) vs. Spring Hill (14)
