Lady Panthers Falter in Second Half, Fall to Claflin

Box Score Atlanta, Ga. --- Despite leading by as much as 13 in the first half, and nine at halftime, the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers were unable to hold on in their rematch versus Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Claflin University on Saturday night, falling 53-51. Mykala Jones had a strong game for CAU with 15 points, while Karahn Scott dominated the glass for Claflin, finishing with 24 rebounds and 12 points. 

The Lady Panthers (8-12, 4-9 SIAC) jumped out to a big lead in the first half thanks to a 42.9% (12-of-28) shooting effort, while holding Claflin to just 18.9% (7-of-37) in the opening frame. However, the tables turned in the second half with Claflin shooting 36.1% (13-of-36) and Clark Atlanta struggling to a 23.1% (6-of-26) effort. 

The win for Claflin evened up the season series at one a piece as both teams won on each other's home court, with CAU winning 75-64 on January 21st. 

Clark Atlanta will hit the road for it's next two games as they travel to Augusta, Georgia on Thursday to take on Paine College (5:30 PM), and continue on to Columbia, S.C. to take on Benedict College (1 PM) on Saturday. The team will return home on Monday, February 16th, as they celebrate "Senior Night" against Albany State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM.
