Box Score Atlanta, Ga. --- A 9-0 run by the visiting Fort Valley State University Wildcats over a four-minute span in the second half was enough to secure the victory over the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers in Epps Gymnasium on Thursday night, 66-59. Once again, Mykala Jones led CAU in scoring with 19 points, with Shereba Montgomery posting a game-high 22 points and 20 rebounds for the visitors.
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foes battled back-and-forth all game with the exception of the aforementioned four-minute span. At the half, the scoreboard saw the visitors ahead by just two, with the Lady Panthers carrying the momentum into the break. Clark Atlanta would open up the second half with a three-pointer by Jones to give them the lead, but would soon give it right back. The Wildcats would lead by as much as 13 in the second half, on their way to the eventual winning margin.
A 62-to-47 rebounding margin for FVSU would allow them to gain an 18-6 edge in second chance points.
The Lady Panthers (8-11, 4-8 SIAC) will look to recover quickly as they host Claflin University on Saturday, February 7th, at 6 PM in Epps Gymnasium. This will be a rematch of an earlier season battle which saw CAU come away with the road win, 75-64.
