Box Score Albany, Ga. --- The Clark Atlanta University Panthers dropped both games of their basketball doubleheader on the road versus Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) opponent Albany State University on Monday night.
Women's GameThe Lady Panthers (8-10, 4-7 SIAC) fell on a buzzer beating three-pointer by Mecca Frost, 68-66. Denissea Law had a team and game-high for CAU with 20 points, with Mykala Jones adding 16. Ieshia Young was one of four Lady Rams in double-figures, finishing with 15 points.
Clark Atlanta held the lead for the majority of the game, and carried that advantage into the final eight seconds. Up one point, Brandie Robertson stole the ball for the Lady Panthers, eventually leading to a free throw attempt by Mykala Jones. The shot would not go down, and Albany rushed the ball back down the court, where they were able to knock down the game-winning three-pointer. Â
Men's GameThe Clark Atlanta Panthers (3-16, 2-10 SIAC) dropped their ninth straight contest as they fell to Albany State, 92-85. Kenneth Green led CAU in scoring for the third time this season with 18 points. Darshtyn Baker dominated the scoring for the Golden Rams, with 24 points in 23 minutes.
The Panthers opened the game with a Green three-pointer to give them the early lead, but this is the last time they would be out in front. The Golden Rams took the lead back at the 17-minute mark of the first half, and would not relinquish control the remainder of the way. ASU was able to hit 82.1% (32-of-39) of their free throws, while CAU only managed to shoot 67.6% (23-of-34).
Both teams will return to action on Thursday, February 5th, as they host Fort Valley State in Epps Gymnasium. Women's tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM, with the men tipping off at 8 PM. The Department of Athletics will be celebrating "Greek Night," as they recognize all of the Greek life on campus.
