Lady Panthers Close Out the Regular Season With Victory

Box Score Fort Valley, Ga. --- After dropping the first contest of the year 66-59, in Epps Gymnasium, the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers hit the road looking for revenge against Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Fort Valley State University, and they found just that winning 76-65.

The Lady Panthers (9-15, 5-12 SIAC) jumped out to a 14-0 lead to start the game and held the Lady Wildcats to just seven points over the first 10 minutes of the opening half. FVSU would hold a slight 18-17 scoring advantage over the remainder of the half, as they went to break with CAU leading 37-25.

Fort Valley State was unable to buy a basket in the first half, shooting just 19.4% (7-of-36), and junior Siera Bubb was there to pull down all of the rebounds, totaling 11 in the first half. Clark Atlanta shot 50% (14-of-28) in the opening frame.

The Lady Wildcats quickly made a game of it in the second half, outscoring the Lady Panthers 15-4 over the first six minutes of the second half to cut the lead to just one point. However, an 18-8 run over the next 10 minutes would give CAU the cushion they needed to get the victory.

Mykala Jones led the way for Clark Atlanta with 24 points, with Bubb pulling down 18 rebounds. Carmenonique Dawson dropped 22 for Fort Valley State in the loss.

The Lady Panthers next game will be played at the SIAC Conference Tournament, with the exact date and opponent yet to be named. For more information, log on to clarkatlantasports.com.
