Panthers Drop Last Game of Regular Season

Box Score Fort Valley , Ga. --- The Clark Atlanta University Panthers hit the road on Monday night trying to complete the season sweep of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Fort Valley State, but were unable to come home with the victory, losing 89-80.

The Panthers (6-20, 5-14 SIAC) trailed at the half, 40-35, thanks in part to 16 points from Tyrone Brinson of the Wildcats. FVSU had two separate 7-to-0 runs in the first half, but the Panthers were able to battle right back to keep it close at the break.

The Wildcats came out hot in the second half, eventually opening up a 12-point lead just two minutes into the period. FVSU had an answer for every basket the Panthers made along the way. An 8-0 run with just over four minutes remaining put Fort Valley State up by 14, giving them all of the lead that they needed.

Derrick Spear finished with a game-high 27 points for FVSU, with Damien Enoch putting up 19 for CAU.

The Panthers will take the floor next as they travel to Birmingham, Alabama, for the SIAC Conference Tournament. An exact date and opponent has yet to be announced.
