On Oct. 26, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) named
Matthew Vincent Offensive Player of the Week - the second-straight week CAU was honored by the SIAC after
Jaha McCray was named Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19.
The Vincent-to-Martin connection set a season-long with a 58-yard scoring pass in the final home game of the 2015 season versus Albany State. The duo already had a 52-yard scoring pass earlier this season.
The CAU passing offense ranks third in the SIAC with 178.4 yards/G, behind just Stillman and Ft. Valley State. The Panthers have passed for 1,427 yards while completing 132-of-267 passes (49.4 percent).
Clark Atlanta tops the special team rankings within the SIAC with 16.6 yards/return on punt returns.
Deandre Jackson has served as the primary return man this season with nine punt returns for 149 yards and a long of 52-yards.
The Panthers defense have allowed the fewest first downs of any school within the SIAC, allowing an average of 13.9/G. Of the 111 first downs gained by the opposition 46 have been on the ground, 55 have been via the pass, and 10 resulting from penalties.
The Panthers defense still remains stout on 4th down allowing the opposition to convert just 5-of-15 (33 percent) for the third-best in the SIAC.
Clark Atlanta averages 32:13 of offense per game, second-best in the SIAC. CAU has won the time of possession battle in 6-of-8 games played and have an overall advantage of 20:53 over the eight games.
Jaha McCray still holds the longest run of the season in the SIAC with a 98-yard dash at Benedict College on Oct. 17. McCray is the only Panther to break 100 rushing yards in a game with 125-yards versus Stillman College on Oct. 10 and 122-yards at Benedict.
Matthew Vincent remains tied atop the SIAC single-game bests with 25 completions in the last home game versus Albany State on Oct. 24.
With four blocked kicks in the season-opener at Tuskegee on Sept. 5, CAU still holds the single-game high for an SIAC team.
Brenton Martin is tied for the top spot in the SIAC with 3.8 receptions/G. Martin has 30 receptions for 331 yards. Martin ranks seventh with 41.4 yards/G receiving.
Deandre Jackson (97.6) and
Jaha McCray (91.2) rank seventh and eighth in the SIAC in all purpose yardage per game.
Joshua Tate is still being targeted in the passing game despite sitting second in the SIAC with five interceptions. Tate sees an SIAC-high 1.75 passes/G thrown in his direction.
