Box Score Orangeburg, S.C. --- The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers used an outstanding defensive effort to steal the victory from the Claflin University Lady Panthers on Thursday night in Tullis Arena, 75-64. Denissea Law and Mykala Jones led the charge for CAU with 20 points each, while Shaniece Brown scored 12 for Claflin.
Turnovers played a key role in the game for both teams, with Clark Atlanta forcing Claflin into 15 turnovers, including 13 steals. The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foes battled back and forth for the entire first half, with Clark Atlanta holding a slim 32-29 edge at the break. However, a 29-17 run over the first 10-minutes of the second half gave the Lady Panthers from CAU all the margin they would need in route to their victory.
CAU (8-7, 4-4 SIAC) had four players finish in double figures for the game. Sydni Davis (17 points) and Siera Bubb (11) joined Law and Jones in the offensive attack for the Lady Panthers from Atlanta.
Clark Atlanta was able to stay out of foul trouble throughout the game which aided in their victory. Through the first 15-minutes of the second half, they had only committed two team fouls, which eventually rose to four for the entire half.
The Lady Panthers of CAU will return to action on Monday, January 26th, as they take on Paine College at Epps Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 6 PM. The Clark Atlanta Athletic Department will be recognizing all of it's scholar-athletes during this contest.
