Box Score 2 Atlanta, Ga.---The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers gave up nine homeruns as they fell 13-6 and 10-0 against SIAC divisional foe Albany State University at HOME Wednesday.
Senior Alia Williams smacked her 13th homerun of the season as she sent a two-run homer over the left field fence in the first inning to give the Lady Panthers an early 2-0 lead. Albany State's bats came alive in the third as the Lady Rams answered with a three-run blast to take the lead 3-2. Freshman Breanna Bailey's RBI drove in CAU's third run to knot the game at three the end of three. As a team, Clark Atlanta went cold at the plate as Albany State racked up eight more runs in the next three innings including three consecutive homeruns to give it an 11-4 lead after six. Williams added her second two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh but that would be as close as the Lady Panthers would come to the lead.
Though Clark Atlanta (19-19, SIAC 13-13) only trailed 2-0 through three innings of the second game, Albany State went on a hitting frenzy with five homeruns in the fourth inning to give the Lady Rams a 10-0 advantage that the Lady Panthers could not overcome. The Lady Panthers managed only two hits in the second game.
Next, CAU will host Talledega College April 16th.
