Box Score Atlanta, Ga.--The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers' domination on the court secured a 71-64 victory over the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University in Epps Gymnasium Thursday.
In a game that featured a pair of defenses that like to pressure the ball and force turnovers, Clark Atlanta was able to come out on the better end. The Lady Panthers forced 20 Lady Wildcats turnovers on eleven steals while never relinquishing the lead in the game.
Five Lady Panthers scoring in double digits helped them dominate Fort Valley State in the second half. Senior Erika Sumpter led the team with 15 points and seven boards while also shooting 3-for-5 from the free throw line. Junior Denissea Law added 12 points and finished 3-for-8 from the field while Penn contributed14 points and six rebounds. Off the bench, Nekia Sockwell added 11 points for the Lady Panthers. Senior Conisha Hicks added 10 points.
The Lady Panthers (16-7, SIAC 9-4) will return to the court at 6 p.m., Monday Feb. 24
th, as they host Albany State University (16-5, SIAC 8-2) in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match- up in Epps Gymnasium.
