Lady Panthers Fall Short Against Kentucky State

Box Score Atlanta, Ga.---The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers struggled offensively as they fell  71-55 to Kentucky State University at Epps Gymnasium Monday.

After trailing 36-27 at the half, the Lady Panthers’ offensive woes continued mainly behind the three-point line where they hit only 1-of-15 in the game. The Thorobrettes’ free throw shooting slowed Clark Atlanta’s second half comeback as they connected on 19-of-24 compared to only six attempts for CAU.  Both teams shot poorly from behind the arc for a combined 2-of-32 with 40 fouls called between them. Kentucky State, led by Shayla Moore with a game-high 14 rebounds, had a 56 to 46 advantage on the boards.

Clark Atlanta Sophomore Denissea Law topped the Lady Panthers with 13 points along with three others who chipped in double-digits including Conisha Hicks (11), Shavon Caldwell (12) and Jomanda Smalls (11). With 22 points for Kentucky State, Sharnita Lloyd led all scorers.

Next, the Lady Panthers (5-7, SIAC 2-1) will look to rebound on their three-game road trip beginning with Tuskegee (1/12), Stillman (1/14) and Miles (1/17) before returning home Jan. 19, against Claflin.
