Tuskegee Edges Lady Panthers in Conference Action

Box Score Tuskegee, Ala.- A great comeback effort by the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers came up short as they fell to Tuskegee University 65-64 on road Thursday at the James Center Arena.

The Lady Panthers (4-9, SIAC 4-6) reeled off an eight-point deficit on a 10-3 run to knot the game at 61 with two minutes remaining in the contest. After Conisha Hicks stepped to the line and knocked down three timely free-throws that pulled CAU within one-point of Tuskegee’s lead, the Lady Panthers forced a turnover on the next possession that gave them the ball back with six seconds remaining on the clock. But a costly mishap under the basketball returned the ball to the Tigerettes and they held on with the one-point edge.

Hicks led all scorers with 11 of her game-high 21 points in the second period while La’Quisha Lewis recorded her third consecutive double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds for CAU and Sumpter pulled down 10 boards.

Alondra Rivers and Alannah Vincent led the Tigerettes with16 and 10 points, respectively.

The four-game road swing continues for the Lady Panthers as they look to rebound against Stillman College Saturday, Jan. 21.
