Claflin Halts CAU's Two-Game Win Streak

Box Score Atlanta, Ga.- A late second-half surge lifts Claflin University 66-58 over Clark Atlanta University in conference action Monday at Epps Gymnasium.

The Panthers of Clark Atlanta held a slim 32-29 margin at the half, but they could only muster seven field goals in the second period and two three-pointers on nine attempts. Terrance Bowman, the game's leading scorer, dropped 10 second-half points as Claflin opened up a six-point lead late in the period and never relinquished it.

Jermille Fluker chipped in 13 points for CAU (5-8, SIAC 5-4) and Logan Shoffner added 10. Bowman led a trio of Claflin Panthers (5-9, SIAC 5-8) in double-digits with 16 followed by Marcus Jeffries with 12 and Mounda Williams (11). Claflin edged CAU on the boards 37 to 34 and both teams struggled from the field as Claflin shot 49 percent while Clark Atlanta hit 35 percent. 

Next, CAU will embark on a five game road swing beginning with Tuskegee University Thursday, Jan. 19 and wrapping up with Fort Valley Jan. 28. Clark Atlanta will host Albany State at HOME Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m.
