CAU Topples Lane in Conference Action

Box Score Atlanta, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta University men’s and women’s basketball teams topped Lane College in convincing fashion before a packed house at Epps Gymnasium Thursday.

Senior center La’Quisha Lewis, who recorded her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 19 rebounds including 10 on the offensive glass along with five blocks, led the Lady Panthers (3-7, 3-4) in a 78-52 dismantling of the Lady Dragons. Freshman Denissea Law added 14 points while Conisha Hicks chipped in 12 points and four assists.

Royce Hamilton led a host of Panthers (4-7, 4-3) in double-digits with 13 points as a second-half scoring frenzy led them to a 76-52 victory over Lane. Antonio Burch, who was perfect from behind the arc on three attempts, and Jermille Fluker who was 4-for-4 at the charity stripe, added 12 points each followed by Logan Shoffner with 10.

Both teams will host the next two games at HOME beginning with Kentucky State Saturday, Jan. 14, at Epps Gymnasium and Claflin University Monday, Jan. 16. The women’s game tips-off at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m., for both days.
