Atlanta, GA- Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers captured their second consecutive conference win with a 65-59 victory over Claflin University Tuesday at the L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
After several lead changes in the first half, CAU (5-9, 3-7) went on a 24-12 run and held its largest lead at 12. The Lady Panthers managed a three point advantage going into halftime.
Claflin (8-8, 6-7) capitalized on a slow start by CAU to open the second half and established a five point lead at the 16:31 mark. It was not long thereafter that the CAU Lady Panthers regained the lead and never looked back.
Freshman guard Conisha Hicks and senior guard Jonae Prince-Coleman led Clark Atlanta with 19 points and five steals each. Hicks also finished with six rebounds including five on the offensive side. Sophomore center Shay Lewis nabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for CAU.
Claflin forward Natalie Davis led all scorers with 25 points while Brattani Goodwin added 14 points and five assists.
Next, the Lady Panthers will host Fort Valley State Saturday at 6 p.m.
