GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 13th Annual UNG Cross Country Invitational on Friday evening, with both squads gaining valuable experience against a deep field of NCAA Division II, NAIA, and junior college programs.
On the men's side, Clark Atlanta finished in 11th place with a combined time of 3:04:49 and an average of 36:57 in the 8k. The Panthers were led by
Tyree Tillis, who crossed the line in 52nd place overall with a time of 30:43.3.
Nehemiah Scott was the second finisher for CAU, placing 90th at 35:42.9, while
Kai Revere added a 98th-place finish at 37:57.2.
Javion Lane (108th, 39:44.2) and
Kamari Rowe (110th, 40:41.5) rounded out the Panthers' top five.
The women's team placed 14th in the 5k race with a total time of 2:08:35 and an average of 25:43.
Lailah Sellers paced the Lady Panthers, finishing 62nd overall in the field of 126 runners with a time of 22:15.0.
Danielle Thompson was next across the line at 24:53.2, good for 86th, while
A'miyah Didier recorded a 94th-place finish in 26:25.4.
Shiloh Brooks (100th, 27:17.1) and
Asia Keys (103rd, 27:45.2) completed the scoring effort for Clark Atlanta. Additional competitors included
Karon Warren (28:43.8),
Mariah Young (30:12.5),
Aaniyah Adams (30:21.1), and
Malachia Abney (30:22.2).
With both teams showing steady progress, the Panthers now turn their attention to their next meet on Friday, September 26, 20205 at the GCSU Bobcat Invitational meet in Milledgeville, Ga. as they continue preparations for the heart of the fall cross country schedule.
