Lady Panthers Trounce Savannah State For 20th Win of the Season

Clark Atlanta improves to 20-5 overall

ATLANTA, Ga. – For the first time since the 2017 season, the Clark Atlanta women's basketball team reached 20 wins after a commanding 77-51 win over Savannah State on Monday evening inside the friendly confines of L.S. Epps Gymnasium. The Lady Panthers now sit at 20-5 overall, boasting a 13-3 record in conference play and sole possession of first place in the SIAC Eastern Division.

Atreonia Garner led the offensive charge for Clark Atlanta with a game-high 19 points while going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line and 6-of-8 from the field while pulling down eight rebounds. Corriana Evans and Brooklyn McKinley each notched 16 points, with Evans sporting a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds.

Clark Atlanta set the tone early, racing out to a 25-7 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. The Lady Panthers shot 43.5% from the field, connecting on nine three-pointers while dominating the rebounding battle 49-37. They also capitalized on Savannah State's mistakes, scoring 14 points off turnovers.

Savannah State (11-11, 7-9 SIAC) was led by Myasia Jones, who tallied a team-high 18 points while shooting a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Jayden Boykin contributed 14 points, and Mya Byrd added 12, but the Tigers struggled from the floor, shooting just 20.4% (11-for-54) from the field.

The Lady Panthers won the battle on the boards after outrebounding the Tigers 49-37 while also outscoring SSU 36-16 in the paint.

Clark Atlanta's defense proved to be the difference, limiting Savannah State to just 7 first-quarter points and forcing 15 turnovers. The Lady Panthers' depth was also on display, with their bench contributing 30 points to the victory.
Clark Atlanta now has the chance to boast the best record in program history.
