Panthers Power Past Fort Valley State, 72-67

Clark Atlanta improves to 12-7 overall

ATLANTA, Ga. — Clark Atlanta edged Fort Valley State 72-67 on Monday night in a high-energy SIAC matchup at L.S. Epps Gymnasium. The victory improves the Panthers' record to 12-7 overall and 9-3 in conference play.

The game was a back-and-forth battle, with Clark Atlanta holding a slim 36-34 lead at halftime. The Panthers' depth proved critical as their bench contributed 34 points, outshining Fort Valley State's 26 points off the bench.

Clark Atlanta's Shemani Fuller was a force inside, notching a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while adding one block and one steal. Martez Jones also delivered a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards, dominating the offensive glass with seven rebounds. Dez'Mond Perkins added 12 points and 10 rebounds, showcasing his versatility on both ends of the court.

The Panthers' defense stood strong, forcing eight turnovers and converting them into nine points. Key blocks from Perkins and Fuller helped maintain momentum during pivotal stretches of the game. Clark Atlanta also capitalized in transition, scoring 16 fast-break points compared to none from Fort Valley State.

Fort Valley State's Hassane Diallo led all scorers with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaylen Jackson chipped in 17 points. Despite their efforts, the Wildcats (6-13, 6-6 SIAC) couldn't overcome the Panthers' defensive pressure and efficient free-throw shooting down the stretch.

UP NEXT

Clark Atlanta will hit the road on Feb. 3 to face Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
