Jones' 21 Points Lifts Clark Atlanta Past Edward Waters, 68-64

Clark Atlanta picks up huge conference road victory

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Trinity Jones led the charge with a team-high 21 points in the Lady Panthers' 68-64 road win over the Edward Waters Tigers on Monday afternoon. Three other players scored in double figures for Clark Atlanta, helping improve their record to 13-5 overall and 8-3 in SIAC play.

Clark Atlanta used a strong first half and dominant scoring from its bench to secure the win. The Lady Panthers' reserves outscored the Tigers' bench 46-7 and led 37-18 at halftime. Clark Atlanta shot 50% (14 of 28) from the field in the first 20 minutes, with Jones contributing 11 of her 21 points.
Jones hit two 3-pointers to start the third quarter, pushing the Lady Panthers' lead to 22 points at 43-21 with 8:28 left in the period. Despite strong scoring from Clark Atlanta, Edward Waters fought back to cut the deficit to 49-37 at the end of the third quarter.

Denise Stine added five early points in the fourth quarter to keep Edward Waters at bay, but a 13-2 run by the Lady Tigers trimmed the lead to four points with 2:56 remaining. Four different Lady Panthers scored in the final three minutes, led by Atreonia Garner, who tallied three of her nine points to help secure the 68-64 road victory.

Jones finished with 21 points, followed by Stine with 15, and Corriana Evans with 10 points and six rebounds. Garner also contributed nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Panthers on the boards.
Clark Atlanta outscored Edward Waters in the paint 34-24 and shot 42.9% from the field, 37.5% from 3-point range, and 70% from the free-throw line.
