Lady Panthers win fifth straight

ATLANTA, Ga.Clark Atlanta extended its win streak to five games with a hard-fought 67-63 victory over Benedict College on Monday night. With the win, Clark Atlanta improves to 12-4 overall (6-2 SIAC).

The Lady Panthers opened the game with an aggressive full-court press, forcing several early turnovers. Benedict quickly adjusted, however, and despite Clark Atlanta's struggles to find offensive rhythm, their defense kept them in the game. The Lady Panthers forced a series of turnovers, including a 10-second violation. Benedict's No. 4 tied the game late in the first quarter with an and-one play, and the teams ended the quarter deadlocked at 16-16.

Clark Atlanta began finding its rhythm, dominating the boards and finishing strong at the rim. Benedict countered with key defensive plays, including timely blocks and steals. The Lady Panthers' momentum slowed due to rushed shot selections, but Myori Pruitt recorded two critical assists in the final minutes, giving CAU a 35-29 lead at halftime.

Benedict came out strong in the third quarter, scoring seven points in the first two minutes to erase the deficit. The Lady Panthers endured an extended scoring drought, struggling to generate offense. Despite cutting the gap to within five points, Clark Atlanta trailed 54-48 heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was marked by frequent referee whistles and limited scoring.
