Lady Panthers Trounce Albany State for Second-Straight Victory

Garner notches 15th double-figure performance of the season

ALBANY, Ga. -- Freshman standout guard Atreonia Garner secured her 15th double-figure scoring contest this season with her 16-point, five-rebound performance to power the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers (11-9, 8-7 SIAC) past Albany State 70-45 on Monday Evening in Albany, Ga. 

Trinity Jones scored in double figures in her fourth-straight game after going for 10 points and five rebounds in the win. 

Clark Atlanta shot 39.7% from the field, 39.1% from three-point range, and 56.3% from the foul line. 

The Lady Panthers wasted no time getting started in Monday's contest as Corianna Evans made a free throw to put CAU ahead 17-3 just midway through the first frame. Garner knocked down a jumper at the 47-second mark in the first quarter to head into the second with a 23-11 advantage. Clark Atlanta shot an efficient 64.3% (9-of-14) from the field in the first quarter while holding the Golden Rams to just 41.6% from the field. 

The Lady Panthers outscored Albany State 15-8 in the second quarter to mount a 38-19 lead going into the half. 

Clark Atlanta's lead grew to as high as 29 points in the second half as they held on to trounce Albany State 70-45 on the way to their largest margin of victory this season.

CAU dominated in nearly every area of Monday's game after outsourcing ASU in the paint 38-16, won the rebounding battle 43-38, and recorded more bench points (28-14).

Clark Atlanta women's basketball returns home on Saturday, February 10 as they host the Savannah State Tigers on Senior Day. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. inside Epps Gymnasium.
