Panthers Extend Win Streak to 11 Games After Blowout Win in Albany

Men's basketball improves to 18-3 overall

ALBANY, Ga. -- Junior Shemani Fuller went off for a game-high 25 points to push the Clark Atlanta Panthers (18-3, 12-3 SIAC) to their 11th straight win after taking down Albany State 73-54 on Monday evening inside the Arena at West Campus in Albany, Ga. Newcomer Xavier Griffith chipped in 17 points while Chris Martin added 14 points in the win. 

Clark Atlanta shot a game-high 55% from the field while holding Albany State to just 35% shooting from the field. On the defensive end, Kharye Cayne pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds.

The Panthers found themselves down 16-13 before Chris Martin and Shemani Fuller combined for eight points to give CAU a 23-20 lead with five minutes left to play in the first half. Martin scored the Panthers final points of the first half to head into the intermission with a 33-29 advantage over ASU. 

Clark Atlanta opened the second half on a 10-1 scoring run to extend their lead to 13 points (43-30) at the 16:16 mark. Just three minutes later, ASU used a free throw to cut the margin to seven points (49-42). The Panthers scored nine straight points to push the lead to 58-42 with nine minutes left to play in regulation.

The Panthers maintained control down the stretch after the lead swelled to 25 points behind an Xavier Griffith jumper at the 2:05 mark. CAU held on to win their 11th straight as they secured the 73-54 road victory over Albany State. 

Clark Atlanta's reserves outscored the Golden Rams' bench 31-12 and scored more fastbreak points (19-8) on the way to the win.
