Panthers Win 12th Straight After Taking Down Savannah State 72-54

Andrew Stewart scores game-high 18 points

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Clark Atlanta men's basketball team (18-3, 13-3 SIAC) extended it's win streak to 12 games on Saturday afternoon after trouncing Savannah State by an 18-point margin (73-54) on Saturday afternoon inside the friendly confines of Epps Gymnasium. 

Four Panthers scored in double figures including Andrew Stewart with a game-high 18 points to pace Clark Atlanta. Chris Martin notched 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds, followed by Jalen NeSmith with 12 points, and Shemani Fuller with 11 in the win.

Clark Atlanta found themselves down early facing a 9-5 deficit just six minutes into the contest. Savannah State knocked down a three-pointer before Andrew Stewart and Xavier Griffith combined for five points to cut the margin to two points (12-10) at the 13:04 mark in the first half. 

Andrew Stewart added another score followed by a Chris Martin three-pointer to give CAU the lead (15-12) with 10:58 left until halftime, a lead they would hold on to for the remainder of the game. Martin knocked down a free throw to close out the half and send the Panthers into the intermission with an 11-point advantage (38-27). 

The second half started in CAU's favor as they jumped out to an 18-point lead with 12:44 left to play in regulation. Just five minutes later, Andrew Stewart sank another three-pointer to push Clark Atlanta to a 23-point lead. The Panthers opened up their biggest lead of the day (29) with four minutes left. 

Clark Atlanta held on to win their 12th straight game as they downed Savannah State 73-54 to remain undefeated in the year 2024. 

The Panthers shot a game-high 52.2% from the field, 41.7% from three-point range, and 66.7% from the charity stripe.

Clark Atlanta men's basketball looks to win their 13th straight on Monday, February 12 as they host Edward Waters for Senior Night. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. inside Epps Gymnasium.
