Garner Notches Fifth Double-Double, Lady Panthers Drop Road Contest to Allen

Lady Panthers fall to 13-11 on the season

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Atreonia Garner notched her fifth double-double of the season, but the Lady Panthers (13-11, 10-8 SIAC) fell short to the Allen University Yellow Jackets 66-61 on Saturday afternoon inside John H. Adams Gymnasium. 

Clark Atlanta held an early nine-point advantage (22-13) advantage to close out the third quarter. Garner and Trinity Jones paced the Lady Panthers with six points each in the opening quarter. Despite a hefty first-quarter lead, the Lady Yellow Jackets closed the margin to just five points (35-30) headed into the intermission. 

With 3:50 left to play in the third frame, Allen took a 41-40 lead over Clark Atlanta. The Lady Panthers found themselves down 50-45 heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams traded scores in the fourth until Atreonia Garner notched a score to put CAU back in front 58-56 with just under five minutes to play in regulation.

CAU's lead didn't last long though as Allen outscored the Lady Panthers 10-3 down the stretch, giving the Yellow Jackets a 66-61 win over Clark.

Despite the loss, two Lady Panthers scored in double figures including Atreonia Garner with a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Trinity Jones with 14 pointsand five rebounds. Corriana Evans also pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds for CAU. 

UP NEXT

The Lady Panthers close out the regular season on Monday, February 26 as they remain in Columbia, S.C. to take on the Benedict College Tigers. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside HRC Arena.
